Zora Emi Arceneaux

Finally after two months of false attempts Ms. Zora joined us on Thursday April 27, 2006 at 1:41. She made her mother work too hard and ultimately required a c-section. Hopefully they will all be home tomorrow to start their real life as a family.

STILL WAITING

Easter and lots of candy and goodies, but no baby. The mama-to-be is about to pop. Still having contractions but nothing strong enough or productive enough on a regular basis to do any good. Picture left to right: Ansley, Sascha and Meara.

SETTING THE TWIST

Finally a day with no rain! Even though it is Easter Sunday, I had to take a moment and wash the new spun wool that has been sitting around here for the past month. I don't have adequate space inside for dripping wool and anyway it takes days to dry. I love the way it looks hanging on the fence--it gives me such a sense of accomplishment.

Left to right: Alpaca, Blue Faced Leister and Merino, Secret Pal hand dyed roving,Crosspatch Creations Blue Icing

Can't decide what to do with any of these yet because there are just too many great things out there. I may make a bag for my spinning wheel tools with the Secret Pal yarn. We'll see.

Still on baby watch. I think this is going to go until Tuesday when she sees the doctor. Mama is beside herself so hope for a quick and safe resolution for her.

THANKS TO ANGELA!

Arriving home late from work on Thursday night there it was waiting on my doorstep this large brown box. I had worked a twelve hour day that day trying to get ahead so I can take off when the baby comes and was too just too tired to open it, intriguing as it was. Last night I had to babysit the mama-to-be and it was another late night with just enough energy to drive home and crawl in bed. Finally this morning I got to open my treasure and what fun! This was a surprise box to end all surpise boxes full many treasures.

Inside was a lovely assortment of stationary, post-its, magnets and a notebook. I adore paper products almost as much as yarn and these are sensational. My photographic skills do not do them justice.

Bath and beauty products galore were also part of this treasure package. Lovely lotions, soaps, bath gel in a nice vanilla fragrance that will be wonderful to use. Angela also included some bathsalts and a great bar of "crazy quilt" natural soap that smells delicious. I love soaps and this one has an olive oil base so it will be as good as it smells.

The bag seemed to have no bottom as I uncovered some comfy slippers, which are on my feet now keeping them quite toasty and a pillow for my neck. She must have know or is it something that is inherent with all fiber workers that my neck is a chronic problem. No longer, I will be so resting in such comfort now.

This whole treasure trove was packed in a great bag that will be very useful--probably be put to work at the end of the month for the spinner's retreat. But there were still more goodies inside of it. A very fun knit bits calendar to keep me entertained all year long. After seeing to all of my needs she did not neglect my fiber fix and included a great hank of hand-dye yarn that is large enough to do a shawl--I can hardly wait to use it.

I am a very lucky woman to have been so thoroughly spoiled--thank you Angela.

NO BABY YET, BUT WE HAVE SOCKS!

Finished the "Francesca Socks"--so named because the yarn came from the sock queen Francesca. This pattern was from a recent Interweave, don't remember which one. I love mismatched socks as it takes out the stress of knitting two perfectly matching ones and makes the process so much more enjoyable.

Poor mama-to-be still is a lady in waiting after two months of contractions still nothing happening. They have spent the time working on the nursery though and it is very cute and ready for our little girl.

GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS

Good news! My secret pal revealed herself http://happyneedle.livejournal.com/, she was a great spoiler and I was very lucky to have been the object of her spoiling. Anglea is the is the creator of lovely handspun yarns so check out her comercial site as well.

Bad news! No baby yet. She is going to be like her mother and hang out as long as possible. Just as well as half of the family has been sick with this nasty cold/flu that is going around. I spent the entire day sleeping yesterday and am able to go back to work today.
