IT'S UP!

The latest installment of Spindlicity is up and includes an article by me on my trip to SOAR. Lot's of good stuff including my fav, more Maggie videos. In this one she is demonstrating how she makes her special batts.

Working like a mad woman trying to get my projects ready for the Conference Gallery Showcase. This conference has been a big two-year project and we are almost there. Check this out:

Along with classes there will be exhibits of guild members spinning, knitting, felting, crocheting and, of course, weaving. You don't have to sign up for the entire conference to enjoy the vendors, guild booths and Galleries. Come to Riverside for the day and hang with the fiberistas!

BABY KNITS Part 1

Lots of knitting happening for the new baby (Ultrasound tech said that there was a 90% chance of a girl. It was difficult to tell as "it" was not cooperating like Zora did. Since it is not conclusive and they have been know to be wrong, I guess that I will be knitting in gender neutral colors.) The blanket was knit from a pattern called Estonian lace and the kimono sweater came from the Organic baby book that I reviewed for Spindlicity. They are both done in a superwash wool. While the green is a very soft one, taken inside a dark living room makes it a tad grayer.

NEW BOOKS

Three new titles arrived in Saturday's mail. I always have loved the kimono shape and there are several interesting variations in the Knit Kimono book that might be fun to try. Twisted sisters has some good ideas for making handspun yarn translate to a commercial pattern that specifies a certain yarn. Last the feltmaking--just wanted it for the library. I did not own one of hers and this one sounded like a good one and it is. Now all I need is enough time to sit and browse.

I am taking a class with Judith Mackenzie this weekend on spinning for knitters and hope to get lots of good pointers. I really enjoyed the class that I had with her this past spring at the ASCH conference.

The Spindlicity cruise is coming up fast, just a little over a week and I need to spend sometime getting ready for that as well.
